Coyote Mating season brings danger to your pets and livestock

Coyotes roam more as breeding season begins in January and February in Kentucky.

TIPS:
• Do not leave pet food outside. If you have to feed your pet outside only give them the amount of food they can eat in one sitting.
• Bring bird feeders inside at night and remove the seed that falls on the ground. Bird feeders attract squirrels, mice, raccoons and opossums, which in turn attracts coyotes. Don’t hang any feeders when coyotes are in the area.
• Secure garbage containers and compost bins.
• Fence gardens and compost piles.
• Keep BBQ grills clean, including the grease trap.
• Supervise pets while they are in the yard as coyotes can climb over or dig beneath most fencing. Consider kenneling unattended dogs.
• Plug holes under fences and block access to crawlspaces under sheds, out buildings, porches and houses.
• Keep cats inside.
• Install motion-sensitive lighting around the house, or turn on outside lighting and check the yard for unwanted animals before letting a dog outside at night. Consider leashing your dog if coyotes are roaming the area. Clean up dog droppings, as they will attract coyotes.
• Walk your dog on a short, non-retractable leash that is highly visible; a coyote is less likely to attack a dog if they see it as part of you. Avoid walking your dog at the same time or on the same route every day, as coyotes learn patterns.
• Don’t leave small children unattended. Show kids pictures of coyotes then instruct them to never approach a coyote or run from one. Children should also learn how to scare away coyotes.
• Do not let your dog chase or “play” with a coyote; the coyote will defend itself and your dog may be injured.

It is time to start the home search again

January Expected To Be An Active Time For Homebuyers To Start Looking

The temperatures may be dropping outside—but for house hunters, things are just about to start heating up.

A recent analysis from realtor.com found that while most people believe spring to be the hottest season for homebuyers, house hunters are starting their search earlier in the year—and January has become one of the most active times of the year for potential buyers on the market for a new home.

20 out of the 100 largest metros in the US saw their highest number of listing views online in January 2019 (based on average monthly views per listing on realtor.com 2015 to 2019)—compared to just three in 2018. And according to the realtor.com team, this trend is poised to continue in January 2020.

“As shoppers modify their strategies for navigating a housing market that has become more competitive due to rising prices and low inventory, the search for a home is beginning earlier and earlier,” said realtor.com® Senior Economist George Ratiu in the analysis’ press release. “With housing inventory across the U.S. expected to reach record lows in 2020, we expect to see this trend continue into the new year.”

The Takeaway:

So, what does this mean for you? If you’re thinking about buying a home in 2020, don’t wait until spring to start your search—because as it turns out, January is the perfect season for house hunting! And, if you’re thinking about selling, it’s not a bad idea to get your house on the market before the actual Spring market.

I-65 to I-71 Connector update

Updates on the potential 65-64-71 connector

This is from one of the Shelby co magistrates. Looks like Simpsonville Western Shelby county is the main target of Shelby county connection.

I 64/I71 Connector ! Follow up .

The 4 potential routes that this project has been narrowed down to are below. The Projects cost anywhere from $625 Million for the cheapest option and going up to 1.2 Billion dollars for the most expensive option. Shelby County Magistrates and Judge Ison voiced complaints that this is Bullitt County Problem and we don’t want Shelby County to suffer because of it. My recommendation was that that use the money to fix spot problem areas to break up congestion is Shelby, Spencer Bullitt & Oldham Counties ( like what Shelby County needs on MT Eden RD ). This could help the issues and and a much smaller cost. Again I don’t have a vote in this project but want to keep Shelby County informed.

Bob Evans in Simpsonville is CLOSED

Bob Evans, the recently built store near the Outlet shoppes of the bluegrass has shut it’s doors.   Slightly surprising to close by residents who visit occasionally but the rumor mill is getting a full head of steam on social media.

While a hotel is currently being constructed on the other side of interstate 64 at the same exit, it may affect their plans for a sit down restaurant in close proximity Outside-of-Bob-Evans-Restaurant

Bob Evans Farms, Inc. is closing 27 Bob Evans restaurants, the company said Monday.

Among those affected is the restaurant in Simpsonville Ky as well as others…, the company said.

Twenty-one of the restaurants are owned and six are leased locations. The owned locations were closed over this past weekend and the leased locations are expected to close during fiscal year 2017, the company said.

“Decisions to close restaurant locations are always difficult,” President and Chief Executive Saed Mohseni said in a statement. “Performance at each of these locations, despite the loyalty of valued guests and the efforts of our dedicated employees, was not meeting expectations. Employees impacted by closures have been offered positions in nearby restaurants where possible. In cases where relocation is not possible, severance benefits will be offered to full-time and part-time employees.”

6 ways to make your home look expensive when it is not.

Do you want to sell your home for TOP DOLLAR?

There are ways to visually improve the public opinion of your home

3. Add—or rearrange—lighting

Designers use lighting to define spaces and separate rooms, making a small space grand.

Think of your living room—where you might have a reading nook, sofas and chairs for company, and a television. Visually differentiate among the areas by using different kinds of lighting: Add a table lamp beside your cozy reading chair and sconces behind your couch for conversation. Consider a dimmer for overhead lights. Architects and lighting designers swear by them. Installing is a relatively simple DIY.

Bonus cheapskate tip: Use warm-colored lightbulbs, Huh says. Cool tones are a “sure-fire way to make your home look down-market,” she says. Daylight bulbs work best for reading nooks.

4. Upgrade your hardware

Don’t have a kitchen renovation in the budget? You can get a similar effect for much less by swapping out old, dated hardware for new.

Tired of your brushed-steel drawer pulls? Try gold, bronze, or even crystal—or make an adventure of it and scour your local thrift store for vintage hardware that screams your style.

It’s not hard to find attractive options in any decor style for next to nothing (a drawer pull, for instance, might start at just $3 or less). For hard-to-find designs, search etsy.

Changing the countertop and faucets is another change that can make your home look much pricier, Huh says. If you have the budget, exchange your dated sink accessories for something fresh that matches your brand-new hardware.

5. Repaint

There’s no simpler way to make an old home feel new than painting.

“This is the most important part,” Huh says. “Repaint and choose beautiful colors for an instant makeover.”

You can’t go wrong with classy neutrals. Minimalists might love a bright white combined with a bold accent wall; DIY decorators might enjoy a tasteful, sandy tan tone, which pairs well with any number of woods.

Paint isn’t just for your walls: Add some color to your front door, window trims, or even the floor, if you’re brave (hardwood can look amazing when painted white).

6. Focus on the devil in the (decor) details

Does your home feel a little meh—and you’re not sure how to change it? Try vignettes—combine decor items (e.g., vases, frames, and objets) that add visual interest to an otherwise bland area—perhaps a shelf or console table.

Organize your vignette around a theme so that the decor items are unified and tell a visual story. Go around your house and cull items you love that need a new home (see tip No. 1 on decluttering).

For example, take that silver tray you’ve been wanting a use for, add a glass tumbler with a fresh flower, that postcard your parents sent from Thailand, and a white bowl filled with colorful candy. Voilà: You now have a magazine-worthy vignette!

Another way to go: Grouping together multiples of the same object (e.g., glass vases in the same color) is an instant update. Decorators often use odd numbers because they are said to be more appealing.

Before you know it, you’ll be posting pics of your gorgeous home.

Why Hate on The Last Jedi Should Not Be (Spoiler Alert)

Why Hate on The Last Jedi Should Not Be (Spoiler Alert)

sw-the-last-jedi-tall-B

There has been a load of hate on The Last Jedi more than there should be. From people saying there’s too much comedy to the point where we didn’t get to see Snoke’s backstory.

First of all, the comedy is Disney Disneyfying Star Wars. You can’t expect that not to come. From Luke throwing his lightsaber back to dusting off his shoulder, I mean it’s funny and Star Wars doesn’t usually have that much humor but you can’t just “hate” it for that. Second, is we didn’t get to see Snokes backstory before he died. He may have been an interesting character but you didn’t get to see The Emperor’s backstory before the prequels were out.

Next, there wasn’t a real lightsaber duel. I get this part a lot but the closest thing we got was Rey and Kylo fighting off Snoke’s Praetorian guards which you have to say that was pretty cool. There was also the point where Leia used the force to propel her through space when the bridge was blown up. Why can’t she use the force when Luke barely was taught how to use the force in A New Hope but he still got the missile into the reactor chain. Especially when they come from the same family.

Lastly, a lot of people thought what happened to Luke was wrong, even Mark Hamill thought that Luke’s character in The Last Jedi was a betrayal of his character. Even though people like Obi-Wan went into hiding on Tatooine because of Anakin/Vader and Yoda also went into hiding. Therefore there is a lot of unnecessary hate on The Last Jedi there are even people convincing others who haven’t seen it to rate it badly on Rotten Tomatoes.
